Dear Fairy Godmother,
Spring in Devon has been beautiful! The world around us exploded into colour - first to appear were the pure white snowdrops, then we were dazzled by the radiance of the daffodils and now the bluebells are emerging. All the birds are singing, and some of the feistier males are strutting around, fighting each other for a chance to dance with the ladies. The pheasants, in particular, are very excited about life - but even the chickens seem happier - noisy little things!
We are still in England, so the days of brilliant sunshine have naturally been interspersed with rain and clouds and the occasional thunderstorm (rather exciting)!
Nonetheless, the cows have been busily calving out in the fields, and the little calves are all prancing around and enjoying their first days of freedom. They are a bit unsteady at first, but quickly develop a sense of mischief - we spent hours trying to catch one of the little chaps (almost 2 months old now) and it took two men to hold him steady as we transported him to his new home.
We've included some pictures of all this excitement for you :)
But don't concern yourself - we aren't prancing around in the fields with the calves (OK, just occasionally) - we are busy inside working on the Apothecary. We have been melting wax and making a mess in the kitchen as we try to develop our very own scented candles, and we are working on some other exciting products as well. Lola is getting creative with our new logo, and we've been talking to lots of great people and spreading the word about Lola's Apothecary.
We hope that you're enjoying the springtime too, wherever you are in the world!
From Devon With Love,
Dominic & Lola x
